Industrial & Mechanical Engineering

Rockford Engineering Works understands that the quality of any final solution is driven by how accurately one can understand and define the problem. Often, projects are begun without a complete understanding of the challenges that will be faced. We help our clients determine their design objectives and target specifications at the beginning, so that their risk, timeline, and budget can be successfully managed through to the end.

Understanding the problems faced provides an opportunity to creatively and cost-effectively manage a project, delivering a better final product that successfully achieves all of the project objectives.

Rockford Engineering is experienced in machine design projects that require the complete or partial conversion of existing machine drawings to up-to-date modeling & software platforms. Existing machinery that does not have drawings can be broken down, sketched, and plotted into a digital format. From there, design improvements and upgrades can be realized, along with the benefit of cataloging previously unrealized machine parts for repair & maintenance.

Conceptual Engineering

Conceptual Engineering is often defined as “Pre-Project Planning” or “Front End Design”. “Consultative Services” also fall within this category.

– FEED

– Conceptual process design & facility layout

– Conceptual product definition

 – Block & Logic diagrams

– Conceptual P&IDs

– Product/Process design scope development

– Reverse Engineering

– Rough Cut Timelines

– Case Studies of current processes

– Technical Representation

– Cost Estimating

Preliminary Engineering

Preliminary Engineering takes the Conceptual Engineering/FEED package one step closer to completion. Deliverables at this stage are refined and focused in an effort to move the project onto the next level of design and/or construction. Client input & feedback is very important at this stage, as a lot of key decisions need to be made during this time.

– Preliminary layouts

– Process flow definition & refinement

– Conceptual models of equipment

– Detailed scope of work c/w accurately budgeted machine costs

– Definitive timeline of project tasks

Final Engineering

During Final Engineering, all remaining project details are wrapped up and communicated. When our clients give us final approval, the majority of the engineering and design work is completed and submitted to the appropriate authorities. Final Engineering includes:

– Final equipment models and detail drawings

– IFC Plant Layouts and elevations c/w installation & start up procedures

– Complete P&IDs

– All equipment specifications are validated and verified

– Final estimates of “To-be-built” costs
