Barry Burt
P.Eng., P.to C.
Barry Burt began his career in industry as a journeyman machinist. As a shop foreman, he worked directly with customers who were seeking solutions to their difficult problems. Always looking for new challenges, Barry continued his education and was rewarded with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
Early in his career he worked as a lead engineer and project manager delivering design-build projects with values reaching to $500,000. Barry continued to learn, becoming responsible for entire projects including conception, pricing, design, manufacturing oversight, installation, and commissioning. His attention to detail and quality led to him being appointed to lead the OH&S and quality control systems at the company that he worked for.
A change of employer led to increased responsibility as Barry was appointed Lead Engineer and Project Manager for international products at one of the leading equipment manufacturers in Canada. His role involved leading both electrical and mechanical designers in design teams of up to 10 people. Before long he became the engineering manager and led the company through a significant period of financial growth in just three years. His success led to him to being appointed Operations Manager, leading a staff of 200+ people and being responsible for delivering several millions of dollars in annual sales.
